The journal entitled Development of the Instructional Model of Reading Strategies for Enhancing Sophomore Students’ Learning Achievement in the Institute of Physical Education in the Northeastern Region of Thailand” is using classroom action research technique. This research using 2 groups for the sample, the first group contained 34 sophomore physical students and the second group contained 32 sophomore sport science student. The instruments of this research consist of questionnaire on implementation of reading strategies, semi structure interviews, reading comprehension, and the 5-lesson plan. Then this research has a purpose to know the reading strategies which most used by the students, there are 6 kinds of reading strategies those are compensation strategies, social strategies, affective strategies, memory strategies, cognitive strategies and meta-cognitive strategies. Some purposes of this research are to identify the reading strategies, to develop the instructional model of reading strategies, and to study the effectiveness of developing instructional models of reading strategies. In the research there are 3 phases, phase 1 dealing with current implementation of reading strategies and instructional model drafting, phase 2 dealing with the development of instructional model and the verification of its effectiveness, and phase 3 dealing with the evaluation of instructional model and the verification of its effectiveness. In phase one there is two activities, related with the implementation of reading strategies and construct draft of instructional model of reading strategies. Survey research, in-depth interview and document study for this phase. In phase two develops the instructional model of reading strategies by using classroom action research. In the last phase, to implement instructional model of reading strategies the practitioner used experimental research design, one group pretest- posttest design and qualitative data collection are employed.
In the first, the majority of student uses guessing in order to answer the test and stop reading. So that after they got understanding related the type of reading strategies, the motivation of them are increase significantly.
In my future classroom I will make my student to choose their own reading strategies, but they have to realize the purpose the reading itself, I mean they have to focus on the reading process rather than the product itself. They should realize the purpose of their activities so that they will mot felt burden while doing reading activities.
